My client an ambitious specialist provider of Fibre broadband based in Essex, delivering gigabit-capable connections to rural communities throughout the East of England. Currently looking for a **Chief Engineer** to join the team.

**About the role**:
This is a key role within the Operations team supporting the Director of Operations and they have direct accountability for the technology, material and working standards across the build function and will be instrumental in the future success and performanceof the business and its suppliers. Duties include but not limited to:

- Investigate and introduce best in the industry technologies, equipment, materials, and ways of working into the business to drive more efficient, effective, and optimised solutions and methodologies.
- Set the standards and requirements on how to build the network including underground and overhead infrastructure.
- Work with suppliers of materials and electronics to gain the best network design ensuring best cost model whilst maintaining a robust easy to deliver network.
- Work with QHSE and Build Manager to set quality standards for build partners and installers.
- Work with the Design Manager to ensure the design is cost optimised and allows for best deployment practices.
- Ensures that the business and design/build partners adhere the requirements, and changes, for working with Openreach PIA and UK Power Networks infrastructure.
- Own, create and maintain all build standards document and ensure compliance by all parties.
- Accountable for the effective influencing of the stakeholders ensuring a stakeholder management plan is in place and delivered, with appropriate governance consultation and prioritisation.
- Provision of excellent engineering advice to the build and operations team and partners in relation to build and customer installation, with accompanying solutions.
- Create the required business cases to support new value engineering solutions.
- Line Management for the Engineering Team.
- Promoting a continuous improvement philosophy within the internal and external teams.
- Performance management, analysis and driving improvement of all partners.
- Provide regular reports on performance and status to the key stakeholders.

**Skills and Experience**:

- Full UK Driving License.
- Have Telecoms experience.
- Experience creating work standards and strategic direction for network build.
- Experience in planning networks using multiple solutions.
- Proven ability in suppler control and management.
- Knowledge of passive and active equipment used in delivering fibre networks.
- Knowledge of different network technology i.e. GPON, WDM, Fibre, radio.
- Knowledge of Construction design and management (CDM) regulations.
