Price & Buckland are a bespoke school wear designer, manufacturer and supplier. Our customers are the schools we provide uniform to, and our buying team work hard year round to ensure every school has the right styles, fabrics and bespoke product lines available for their students to buy.
Based in Hucknall, Nottingham (NG15), we’re a small business with around 60 employees working in our warehouse, office and print & embroidery teams.
**About the role**:
We’re looking for a Trainee Merchandiser/Buyer to join our busy Buying department. The team is headed up by the Buying Manager and currently supported by a team of 5 Assistant and Senior Merchandiser/Buyers.
**The general duties of the role include**:
- Managing a number of schools; create a customer profile; forecast and determine stock requirements; and monitor and manage stock levels throughout the year.
- Managing a number of plain or bulk stock lines; analyse available data; forecast and determine stock requirements; and monitor and manage stock levels throughout the year.
- Attend critical path meetings to ensure timely delivery of customer orders.
- Generate orders and top up stocks when needed.
- Liaise with internal teams to ensure capacity and stock levels are kept at an agreed level.
- Undertake garment quality checks and colour submit checks.
- Complete import and export documentation.
- Manage UK and international supplier relationships, including cost negotiations when appropriate.
- Progress deliveries and prioritise where necessary (for example, sea or air freight).
- Support the team with other duties as required, such as covering absences and undertaking projects.
**About you**:
Ideally, we’re looking for someone who has experience in a similar role or has transferrable skills and a keen interest in procurement processes.
- Enjoy working as part of a small team
- Have excellent communication and organisational skills
- Have high attention to detail and accuracy
- Be able to prioritise, problem solve and make decisions
- Be confident using Excel and have strong IT skills
