The Great North Children’s Hospital in Newcastle upon Tyne has an exciting, progressive paediatric service with regional and supra regional specialties. We are delighted to offer a full time, 12 month Paediatric Dietitian post within our friendly team. This is an opportunity to develop your specialist paediatric skills working alongside a team of lead dietitians who are experts in their respective specialist areas.

- 37 hours 30 minutes/week

You will be based at the RVI and will work primarily in our Metabolic and Neurology teams, with additional general paediatric clinical cover on a regular basis and the opportunity to develop further skills covering specialist areas. Our services are delivered to inpatients, outpatients and in some areas, community outreach clinics and via telephone support. You will receive support and training from your service lead within the specialist area.

You will be joining a dynamic and established team of over 20 Paediatric Dietitians working in specialist areas such as Bone Marrow Transplant, Cystic Fibrosis, Gastroenterology, Ketogenic Diet Therapy, Neonates, Renal Disease, Surgery and Parenteral Nutrition.

The department provides A, B and C placements for dietetic students. The Trust places significant value on its dietetic services in the provision of first-class patient care, and the dietetic service enjoys a high profile with excellent multidisciplinary involvement.

- Acts as a source of expertise in nutrition support/education and dietetics to patients, medical staff, health care professionals, relatives, carers and all relevant agencies.
- Provides expertise to Nutrition Teams and works in other multidisciplinary teams.
- Delivers education and training at all levels.
- Participates in team and multi-disciplinary evaluation, audit and research
