**Swimming Instructor**

**Salary**: £9:50-£16.00 per hour

Part-time hours: sessional hours up 5 hours per week for 16 weeks across the year, with and the opportunity to increase over time.

**Job Type**: Part-time / Sessional

Epic Partners require a passionate, enthusiastic and organised swimming teacher to join our team in Nottingham. We deliver a fun, friendly community and school swimming programme. The position will be on a session part time basis but we will consider self-employment for the right person.

Your primary role will be to assist the teacher/teach children of all ages and abilities to develop swimming skills, technique and confidence in the water. You will deliver sessions in a professional manner and undertake administrative tasks associated with the role (i.e. lesson plans, class registers, monitoring and evaluation).

- A calm and professional approach to inspire confidence and motivate swimmers
- The ability to encourage people and put them at ease
- Perseverance and patience
- Self-motivated with the ability to work with the minimum of supervision
- A commitment to swimming participation for all
- Sound organisational skills including use of scheme of work session plans
- Ability to assess and report achievement

**Main Duties**:

- To work with a group of swimmers to help them achieve the aims required, to the facility’s agreed session plans (ASA National Plan for Teaching Swimming)
- To maintain up-to-date register of all swimmers attending each session, enabling the instructor to complete end of term reports
- Make a note of details of any particular needs of an individual swimmer
- Abide by all policies and codes as required
- Ensure that all qualifications are renewed and updated as and when required
- Be aware and understand the facility Emergency Action Plan and Normal Operating Procedures (EAP&NOP)
- To follow and promote the Epic Partners Child Protection policy
- Maintain Qualifications The post holder’s responsibility for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young persons, for whom s/he is responsible, or with whom s/he comes into contact, will be to adhere to and always ensure compliance with Epic Partners Child Protection Policy Statement.

To agree to abide by a code of conduct and carry out duties in accordance with policies, including equal opportunities, safeguarding children, health and safety at work, etc.

**Knowledge & Qualifications**:

- Be willing to work towards or hold ASA/STA Level 2 Teaching Qualification (or equivalent).
- Willing to undertake an Enhanced DBS check;
- Knowledge of child protection and welfare issues;
- Hold a lifeguard/teacher rescue qualification. (NRASTC or NPLQ)
