**Overview of the Role**

We are looking for an enthusiastic, well-qualified Head of Biology to lead the biology department within this highly successful grammar school. The department is integral to the school’s curriculum provision at key stages 3, 4 and 5. Numbers choosing biology at KS5 are high and the department achieves outstanding public examination results at both GCSE and A level.

School Teachers Terms & Conditions pay range, dependent upon experience. You will also be rewarded a TLR 2B for your responsibilities as Head of Department, with an annual value of £5,349.

**JOB SUMMARY**

The science department comprises a Head of Biology, a Head of Chemistry and a Head of Physics who lead the science departments collaboratively. There are currently seven teaching staff in the biology department (including the Head of Biology and the Second in Biology) and one full time technician.

Results at both GCSE and A level are outstanding. In 2023, 96% of all biology GCSE entries were awarded grades 7-9, and 73% were at the very highest 9 grade. For trilogy, 97% of all grades were 7-9. At A level, 83% of entries were awarded A*-B
