**WRc** part of the **RSK Group** is hiring for a skilled **Toxicologist** working within our NCET (National Centre for Environnmental Toxicology) team, to provide independent and authoritative advice on chemical risk to regulators, water companies and industry. You will be providing advice during chemical spills and emergencies, undertaking environmental and human health risk assessments, and helping companies comply with their regulatory requirements.
The role will focus on developing client solutions with opportunities to contribute to commercial work.
The role requires your excellence and energy in equal measure, plus a real passion for working with our global client base to solve technically difficult problems. It involves interaction with a team of fellow human health experts, ecotoxicologists, and chemists as well as working alongside other environmental and engineering disciplines across WRc and the RSK Group
**Key Responsibilities**:
- To provide independent and authoritative advice on chemical risk to regulators, water companies and industry.
- To provide advice during chemical spills and emergencies, undertaking environmental and human health risk assessments, and help companies comply with their regulatory requirements.
- To critically assess toxicity data on chemicals.
- To provide advice on the health effects and risk assessment of chemicals in drinking water and other media and communicate this advice in the manner appropriate to the recipient.
- To contribute and oversee the development of toxicological datasheets on a variety of chemicals.
- To contribute and oversee work relating to the provision of advice, support or timely research relating to chemical safety, chemical contamination, or chemical regulation.
- To develop client solutions with opportunities to contribute to commercial work winning and business development.
- To interact with a team of fellow human health experts, ecotoxicologists, and chemists as well as working alongside other environmental and engineering disciplines across WRc and the RSK Group.
- To deliver commercial solutions and technical excellence to the client.
- To project manage with a commercial focus.
**Person Specification**:
- A PhD (ideal) or MSc in toxicology or related degree and work experience in a related field (consumer healthcare, water industry, consumer products).
- Experience in assessing mammalian toxicology study data. Ecotoxicology knowledge is not required but will be considered advantageous.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong IT skills, ideally with knowledge of ECHA REACH, QSAR and exposure modelling.
- Strong commercial and delivery awareness, contributing to developing strong teams and building trusted client relationships to affect change.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to multi-task.
- Experience of working in the water sector / public health would be beneficial
- Experience in regulatory toxicology would be an advantage
- Ecotoxicology knowledge is not required but will be considered advantageous
**Salary & Benefits**:
- Up to £35,000 per annum DOE
