**Full Job Description**

We are looking for a professional Communications and Engagement Adviser to support the delivery of two recently secured funding streams.

**Roles and responsibilities**:

- Work closely with the project managers to understand the project details and objectives in order to then develop complementary end to end communication and engagement approaches to support the project goals.
- Develop understanding of the communities and stakeholders involved and design and implement an agreed communication and engagement programmes of activities that will achieve effective communication with the identified audiences.
- Undertake the specialist role of communication and engagement within the team and provide professional advice to other team members.
- Carry out research and analysis to support development of strategic communication and engagement plans to meet service needs.
- Prepare and deliver key messages to targeted audiences via public consultation meetings, social media and on a one-to-one basis to influence and engage key stakeholders in achieving project milestones.
- Provide support and advice to identified communities as detailed within the BSIP and Economic Development work programme and address any concerns and objections to consider community priorities.
- Undertake supervision of others and support their professional development including mentoring and support of designated staff, enhancing and developing competencies, disseminating research and best practice findings to improve the performance of the team.

**Experience & Requirements**:

- Have significant post qualification experience to develop and deliver communication and engagement plans and activities
- Provide specialist communication and engagement advice and guidance to the BSIP project, UKSPF projects and Transport and Economy service area more broadly.
- Communication and / or engagement qualification to at least NQF level 6 or above (minimum of an honours degree or equivalent), or equivalent demonstrable experience to give an in-depth level of knowledge necessary to undertake the most complex developmentof the service.
- Practical experience of working within the professional area of public relations/communication, giving rise to a variety of technical skills and thorough understanding of the principles of the services available, work practices and processes.
- Ability to relate to a wide range of audiences, understand alternative perspectives and opinions, and to use that understanding to develop techniques to gain engagement with the projects' development and achieve delivery.
- A comprehensive knowledge of legislation and professional codes of practice for the service area.
- Understanding of financial constraints and monitoring budgets
