Forest School Leader:
Mondays and Wednesdays 14 hours per week Term Time only with 3 addtional hours planning per week

£10.67 -£12.04 per hour dependant on experience

**RESPONSIBLE TO: The OLC Directors**

**1.** **JOBPURPOSE**:
To manage the delivery of Forest School activities under the direction of The OLC Directors to provide safe, high quality education and care for children aged 5 to 11 year olds. To inspire a small team to provide an interesting and challenging Forest School environment that supports children’s learning and development.

**2.** **PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES**:

- To be responsible for ensuring that the policies and procedures of The OLC are fully implemented;
- To be responsible for complying with any conditions prescribed by Ofsted;
- To complete and regularly update the Self Evaluation process with The OLC Directors;
- To carry out duties of the Child Protection Lead Officer;
- To oversee the efficient upkeep of the woodland site, including the maintenance of the woodland, buildings, equipment and resources;
- To oversee and assist with the planning and implementation of a Forest School curriculum;
- To conduct regular reviews of the children’s' development with staff;
- To liaise with outside professionals when necessary, i.e. health visitors, social services etc;
- To ensure new children are allocated adequate time for visits to assist their integration;
- To liaise with parents/guardians on the care, progress and well being of their children;
- To act as Line Manager for the staff;
- To be responsible for the supervision of staff, including making arrangements during staff absences;
- To supervise petty cash for the group.
- To deal with routine correspondence, general administration and report writing;
- To attend training courses when necessary to keep up-to-date with current child care and Forest School issues;
- To ensure that high standards of hygiene and safety are maintained at all times;
- To support and lead activities within the Forest School session;
- To take part in special events;
- To be a key person ensuring the developmental needs of your key children are met within a framework of planned activity and early learning experiences.
- In conjunction with the staff team, to prepare curriculum plans that meet the needs of all children in line with the Forest School and OLC ethos.
- To oversee the upkeep of children’s Journals using tapestry.
- To attend relevant internal and external meetings and training.
- Undertake such other duties as may reasonably be allocated by The OLC Directors.

**Job Type**: Part-time
Part-time hours: 17 per week

**Salary**: £10.67-£12.04 per hour

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Hamble, Hampshire: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

**Education**:

- GCSE or equivalent (required)

**Experience**:

- Working in a Forest School/Outdoor Education setting: 1 year (required)
