A fantastic opportunity for a Clinician has arisen within our Early Help service

As part of the Early Help response to children and young people’s mental health, our Clinician role will deliver therapeutic interventions to those whose needs don’t meet the thresholds currently in place to access CAMHS services.

In addition to the direct delivery, there’ll be a requirement to offer consultation and advice to professionals within children’s services, who are working with children and young people with emotional and mental health needs.

As our Clinician, you’ll be able to work systemically with individuals, couples and families, considering the highly complex factors affecting the client’s or family’s situation. You’ll be skilled in undertaking assessments of therapeutic need, treating troubled children using a behavioural approach, and in engaging and working with clients in an intensive home-based model.

You’ll also have knowledge of child development, disorders and mental health disorders, as well as knowledge of the factors affecting the emotional wellbeing of children and young people, including issues of attachment, separation and loss, and you’ll be able to respond to these.

**Main Accountabilities**:

- Work in ways which are sensitive to and appropriate for the needs of children, young people and families from a wide range of racial, cultural and religious backgrounds. This includes working in ways that reflect the wide range of abilities to understand the therapeutic process. It also requires the use of fine judgments that are responsive to individuals in a family and to the family as a whole
- Build professional relationships with children, young people and their families to support wellbeing, safeguard and promote positive outcomes for children and young people
- Ensure that children and their families are communicated with effectively and provided with the necessary information regarding their circumstances and plans for intervention
- To help support and provide therapeutic interventions to support children and young people who require mental health support but do not meet the existing CAMHS Thresholds
- To deliver a flexible service and work directly to meet the needs of children and young people by working in the family home, school and community settings
- Develop and implement non-pathological and creative ways of working to meet the emotional and mental health needs of Slough’s children
- To help evaluate and monitor the service delivered, with a commitment to children and family involvement, including the analysis of complex data and reporting to senior management within SCF and CCG as required
- Lead on the provision of an evidence based therapeutic service to Slough’s children and families through the provision of direct work and assessments of therapeutic need and through providing consultation and advice to colleagues
- Undertake assessment of needs, analyse and evaluate to provide most appropriate therapeutic interventions
- To respond to child protection concerns that might arise in the course of interventions, in line with child protection procedures and guidance and to take responsibility for one's own decision making in high-risk cases using the supervisory framework
