**Complex Care Team Leader for Client with Acquired Brain Injury**
Day and sleep in shifts
To work with a **12 year old male** in the Wigton area
**Attributes**: Natural caring attitude, professional, ability to develop relationships & trust with the client and his wider family, patience, understanding, initiative, observant, team player, flexible, sense of humour, respectful, dynamic, organised, proud.
**Knowledge/Experience**: of Brain injury, cerebral palsy, physical disabilities, sensory needs, Epilepsy, PEG feeding, complex care and safeguarding. Experience working with children would be an advantage but not essential.
**Role**:
This will involve the following areas:
- To work in partnership with parents, colleagues and other professionals working with the client and their family, ensuring physical, emotional, social, spiritual, and therapeutic needs are met.
- To ensure respect is demonstrated with all family members, at all times, whilst working in the family home and out in the community.
- To care for the client in line with their bespoke care plan including
Personal care
Intimate care
All aspects of daily living
Preparations of nutrition/PEG Feeding
Administering medication
Hoisting & Transfers
Communication
Therapy programmes
Leisure activities
Social activities including using community resources
Transportation and escort
Family, social and leisure activities
Supporting on family holidays
Driving the client’s vehicle
- To ensure the client has a right to privacy and dignity at all times.
- To work within professional boundaries.
- To develop caring and professional trusting relationships.
- To keep the client’s living space clean and tidy.
- Work in accordance with Safeguarding Legislation
- To ensure any safeguarding concerns are brought to the attention of the Designated Safeguarding Officer/Case Manager.
- To promote positive outcomes for the client in line with his life plan and aspirations
- To maintain confidentiality at all times and use the appropriate information sharing protocol.
- To develop, maintain and evaluate systems and structures to promote the rights and diversity of the client.
- To promote and monitor health, safety and security whilst at work, either in the client’s home or whilst out in the community
- To work on any physiotherapy programmes under the supervision and guidance of the chartered physiotherapist.
- To work on any occupational therapy programmes under the supervision and guidance of the chartered occupational therapist. To follow instructions of therapeutic needs of positioning and postural management.
- To work on any speech, language and communication therapy programmes under the supervision and guidance of the chartered Speech and Language therapist.
- To read and follow any risk assessments written for the client, the family and employees, or other staff commissioned to work with the client.
- To complete and maintain administrative records as required by the Case Manager, or any other service in which you are working in partnership with.
- To undertake the completion of records concerning the client to a standard that would be acceptable in court.
- To attend any meetings as required concerning the client.
- To undertake induction and relevant training programmes as required in order for you to carry out your work.
- To attend and participate in supervision, appraisal and any staff meetings as required by the Case Manager/parent
- To maintain personal wellbeing within your job role and to bring to the attention any concerns that may affect the wellbeing of yourself or any other employee with whom you are working.
- To undergo an Enhanced DBS check.
- To drive the client’s vehicle safely and responsibly.
- To deal with and record petty cash transactions using the agreed format.
- Support workers to work in hospital during any admissions.
**Additional areas of responsibility**
- To manage rotas and annual leave of the support workers/waking night staff
- To prepare reports as requested by the Case Manager
- To attend four Multi-Disciplinary Team meetings per year
- To ensure health and safety in the client’s home is monitored
- To ensure all records are kept up to date at all times
- To liaise with the Case Manager with regards to any staffing issues
- To undertake any additional duties commensurate with the role as directed by your case manager
- Staff must adhere to all policies provided with regard to social media and mobile phones, data protection and information sharing.
**Location**: Wigton, Cumbria
Hours will be a rolling rota over a 3 or 4 week period
**Salary**: Salary £15.00 per hour weekdays and £16.00 per hour weekends,
Holiday pay and pension scheme included
You must be a car driver with a full driving licence.
Schedule:
- Day shift
- Night shift
- Holidays
- Monday to Saturday
- Sundays if required
- Overtime
