APPOINTMENT OF ASSISTANT CHIEF CONSTABLE

If successful you will be joining the busiest force in Wales and one of the best performing forces in the UK. Covering 10% of the Welsh landmass, the force is home to 42% of the population of Wales (1.3 million residents). South Wales is a diverse region, boasting urban, rural and coastal areas and featuring the two largest cities in Wales - Swansea and the capital city, Cardiff. Serving 63 of the 100 most deprived communities in Wales the force accounts for 49% of recorded crime in the principality. South Wales Police plays a key role in the South Wales economy, regularly supporting major sporting and cultural events.

Applicants must have successfully completed the Strategic Command Course, Non UK applicants must have served in an approved overseas police force rank and must be eligible to live and work in the UK.

Applicants should hold MV/SC clearance and there is a requirement to be vetted to DV level on appointment. The post holder will be expected to have at least a level 2 Welsh ability or to achieve it within 2 years of taking up the post.
