The Recruitment and Assessment team is a new service which is part of the Fostering team and wider People department. The aim of this team is to ultimately promote and recruit new foster carers within the local authority.

You will make a difference to looked after children in South Gloucestershire by supporting prospective foster carers become foster carers, from their first enquiry to being approved.

The team are currently hybrid working, which is a mixture of working remotely at home and in the office.

**What will you be doing?**
- You are the first point of contact for all enquiries and hold responsibility for progressing potential foster carers who meet the criteria.
- With the support from social workers and foster carers, you will lead on the foster carer’s pre-approval training course, including organisation, co-ordination and delivery of the course.
- You will organise, plan and host information events to a range of stakeholders.
- Working closely with the marketing officer, you will be jointly responsible to ensure a strong and consistent social media presence for South Gloucestershire Fostering.

**What we need from you**:

- We require you to hold or be working towards a relevant professional qualification such as children and families, youth and community or charity sector or be able to demonstrate an equal level of experience in working within the social care sector or in a similar role.
- You will be able to undertake assessments with the ability to communicate and justify reasons for recommendations clearly.
- Ideally, you will have previous experience of writing reports, collating and analysing information, running data reports, and presenting findings in different formats.
- You will have proven experience of event organising such as conferences, networking, and charity events.
- You are required to travel widely within the authority, so you must either have a current driving licence and provide a car or have access to appropriate means of travel.
- Although not essential, you may have previous knowledge of children’s services and fostering and adoption.

Be able to work flexibly in response to service needs including weekends and evenings.

Please note that due to the nature of this role it is a requirement of employment that an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is obtained for this post.
