**Job summary**:

- York Garrison is the collective term given to the group of barracks based in the greater York area belonging to the British Army. These include all the barracks in York, Strensall, and extends to Leconfield in East Yorkshire.
- Imphal barracks is home to Headquarters 1st (UK) Division, 2 Signal Regiment, 3 Army Education Centre and a number of smaller Army Units.
- This post will be within the York Garrison Quartermasters Store as part of a small team who support both the Garrison and Headquarters 1 (UK) Division.
- This position is advertised at 37 hours per week**Job description**:

- Working in a small, but professional team, your role will entail providing support to the Garrison Quartermaster’s Department in the delivery of a first-class Garrison warehousing and stores function as well as undertaking general driving duties.**Person specification**:

- Your main duties/responsibilities will include:

- Carrying out a variety of tasks to ensure that stores are accurately maintained, your duties will include:

- The loading and unloading of stores, freight and vehicles:

- The collection and delivery of stores from and to various buildings in the Garrison and Strensall area:

- You have the responsibility of exchanging bedding within the transit accommodation and for checking for any deficiencies or damage after use and correcting these before next use:

- You will help in keeping the stores and outside areas clean and safe as required:

- Undertake refuse collection and sweeping of barracks as required:

- Provide aid in support of Royal Gun Salutes and other Army in Society Events. (There may be a requirement to work some weekends to support these events, overtime and/or Time Off in Lieu may be available):

- You will operate Manual Handling Equipment as required:

- Assist in maintaining fire equipment for Quartermasters Store and sub-units:

- Assist Regimental Quartermaster Sargent (RQMS) in Ammunition Salvage and storage from nominated ammunition compounds. Hazmat Awareness Training will be required.
- Assist the Sustainable Operations on the Government Estate Executive Officer (SOG EO) to discharge their Waste Management duties:

- Attend training courses as required for the post:

- Carry out ad hoc tasks as and when requested.
- Drivers Responsibilities/Duties
- Conduct driver duties as required by your manager:

- You will need to have a sound knowledge of transport regulations, with a particular emphasis on road safety, and be fully conversant with the Highway Code.
- You will undertake daily checks to ensure the vehicle are roadworthy and for reporting all vehicle faults or defects to the Transport Support Unit (TSU) and your Manager:

- You will carry out checks on vehicles prior to undertaking long journey’s, to make sure that the vehicle is roadworthy and has sufficient fuel, lubricants and water for that journey:

- You must ensure that all road traffic accidents are reported to the correct personnel:

- You are to ensure that all vehicle paperwork is completed accurately and kept securely:

- You will be responsible for ensuring the departmental vehicle/s are collected from TSU as and when required and are returned fully fuelled, clean and in good order, reporting any faults.
- Ensure that vehicles loaned to this department by TSU are kept clean and tidy throughout the loan period.
- You must always follow driving laws and regulation.
- You should hold a Cat B and Cat C driving licence as you will be using/operating the following types of vehicles:

- Van.
- Mini Bus.
- Electric Buggy.
- FLT (Counterbalance/Reach (essential) (Rough Terrain (desirable)).
