**Main Duties**:

- To understand the retail strategy and its importance to Age UK West Cumbria Service delivery.
- To have an interest in all things vintage and love charity shopping
- To understand and work to Retail policies, procedures and guidelines
- To be responsible, in the absence of the shop manager to ensure that the shop premises are clean and tidy at all times and goods are displayed in an attractive and presentable manner.
- To act as key holder; to open and close the shop for agreed trading hours and ensure the premises are secure on leaving.
- To maximise shop income and achieve sales targets.
- To support volunteers in the charity shop, encouraging an active interest in the shop and the work of Age UK West Cumbria.
- To generate stock donations to meet sales requirements; accept, sort, price and display stock in accordance with Age UK West Cumbria’s guidelines.
- To take responsibility for stock control, including disposal of unsold donations at the best possible return.
- To work with the Shop Manager to publicise and enhance the image of Age UK West Cumbria’s charity shops at every opportunity.
- To create opportunities to deliver fundraising in the local community.
- To ensure that all customers are informed about gift aid and volunteers are supported to be confident in this.
- To work with the shop and retail manager to develop a programme of themed window displays.
- To participate in the visual merchandising and displays within the shops to ensure they are attractive to customers
- To ensure that all Age UK West Cumbria’s administrative and financial procedures are followed including banking.
- To ensure that staff and volunteers are aware of and comply with Age UK West Cumbria’s Health and Safety Policy.
- To be aware of and abide by Age UK West Cumbria’s Health and Safety Policy and Fire Policies.
- To ensure that Age UK West Cumbria’s Equality and Diversity Policy is adhered to.
- Any other duties which are consistent with the duties and responsibilities of the post.

**Skills and Experience**
- To have previous experience of managing staff and volunteers.
- To be a good communicator with excellent literacy skills.
- To have the ability to work as part of a team and motivate others.
- To have proven marketing/retail skills and customer service experience
- To be well organised, self motivated and able to use own initiative.
- To have good numeracy skills.

To be flexible to cover extra shifts for holidays and sickness in our shops across West Cumbria.

**Job Type**: Part-time

**Salary**: £10.42 per hour
