- Job description- Are you passionate about climate change adaptation? Do you want to help shape the approach to managing the impact of the rising tides around the Humber for generations to come?
This role is focused on providing flood risk data and information management technical support to the Humber Strategy team.
Data and evidence underpins our understanding of flood risk around the Humber, so you will provide technical support and data know-how for a range of flood risk management projects; supporting the development of a new Humber tidal flood risk strategy (Humber 2100+) and driving supporting projects that will help inform how we can support communities to adapt to the changing climate.

You will also help to manage and develop our relationships with partners, stakeholders and practitioners across the Humber, as well as colleagues across the Environment Agency.
Responding to incidents is a central part of what we do. You will be required to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents, or provide business continuity support during an incident.
- The team- The Humber Strategy team is focused on the long-term management of tidal flood risk around the Humber and tidal rivers and includes specialists in flood risk, the environment and coastal habitats, engagement, strategic planning and funding.
We’re involved in a number of exciting Humber wide projects, including Humber2100+, working closely with colleagues from across the Environment Agency locally and nationally and with many partners and stakeholders.
- Experience/skills required- We are looking for the following:

- A passion for strategic flood and coastal risk management
- Interest in and experience of using GIS software packages to analyse data and create maps
- Some experience of data management, data analysis, flood modelling or asset management approaches
- Experience of using Office365 tools - particularly Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and SharePoint
- Ability to work methodically, delivering high quality work to defined deadlines
- Problem solving skills that can be applied to a range of situations
- Ability to work independently, but to still be a team player
- Enjoy building relationships with internal colleagues or external organisations
- Ability to communicate effectively, using a wide variety of communication approaches
- An interest in equality, diversity, inclusivity and respects different viewpoints, values, cultures and contributions
- A passion for developing yourself and growing your technical skills and knowledge
- Contact and additional information- We are an inclusive team, based at locations across Yorkshire and Lincolnshire. We support our staff to do their work in a way that works for them and support flexible working. Although we often work remotely, we would expect the post holder to be based at one of our local offices (Beverley, Leeds, Lincoln, Nottingham, Rotherham, Sheffield, York) and you would need to be able to easily access the Humber area.
A driving licence would be beneficial.
Incident roles may attract an additional payment and full training and workplace adjustments will be available.
Your previous experience and your answers to the competency questions will be used for interview selection. Interviews will be held in mid-March 2023.
