**Mental Health Support Worker**

Based at Walsall Sanctuary Hub working 25 hours per week Monday to Friday between 6.00pm-11pm / Saturday and Sunday between 12pm-11pm (please not this is a 24 hour service open 365 days of the year so flexibility and commitment to work unsociable hours is required) earning a salary of £20,000 per annum dependant upon experience.

We have an exciting opportunity for a **Mental Health Support Worker **to join our established and friendly Walsall Sanctuary Hubs.

Our Sanctuary Hubs are a safe place for people experiencing mental illness, where they can receive assistance from trained staff and volunteers as part of their recovery process. We offer one-to-one support and a range of recovery-based activities.

Providing a person centred, holistic and non-stigmatising environment, we take a strength based, focusing on assets, independence, recovery, and social inclusion with no wrong door approach.

**How will you make a difference?**

As a Mental Health Recovery Worker, you will:

- provide support to service users, including one to one individual support and liaison with other mental health agencies on behalf of people who use our services
- enable and encourage service users to find out about local services and facilities within their community and facilitate access to alternative services where specific needs are identified
- encourage service users to recognise, understand and manage factors that affect their mental wellbeing and physical health
- engage with community events, meetings and forums to promote the service and Rethink Mental Illness

**What we are looking for**:

- ability to make a comprehensive assessment of an individual’s situation and needs; to develop, implement and review risk management plans and devise support plans and activities to meet these needs.
- experience of providing support to people with a mental illness; or experience of providing care and/or support services within another social care setting in either a paid or voluntary capacity.
- a strong working knowledge of mental health and appropriate intervention methods QCF Diploma or NVQ level 3 in Care or Certificate in Community Mental Healthcare (or working towards) or an equivalent qualification.
