**Hours and weeks **37 hours per week, term time only (39 weeks per year).

**Salary **£23,144 - £24,781 - the salary advertised is based on working term time only (39 weeks per year). The full time equivalent salary is £26,393 - £28,260 per annum.

**Job Purpose**:
To be responsible for the supervision of the unit, including hygiene, cooking, training of staff and all day to day operations of the catering unit as and when business requires.

**Responsibilities**:
**Duties and responsibilities**
- Effective management of the catering service, including all administrative work e.g. placing orders, stock control ,monitoring of food budgets and compiling any rotas to ensure the smooth running of the kitchen
- Developing a positive relationship with the Head Teacher, colleagues and students in order to ensure the needs of the school are met
- Clear communication to all
- Attending meetings as required
- Assisting with recruitment and selection of catering staff as required
- Supervision of the unit ,including regulations are met i.e. hygiene, HACCP, COSHH, Health and safety, staff training (including mandatory training)
- Ensure the kitchen and service operate in compliance with all statutory legislation and corporate requirements
- Assist with any extra catering required by the school
- Purchase of all food products from agreed nominated suppliers
- To be responsible for the preparation and cooking of the school meal (with assistance from Assistant cook and catering Assistants), in line with menus and recipes, nutritional guidelines and within budget
- To be responsible for promoting the school meal through menus and displays
- To continue to move the catering provision forward with current menu ideas, coaching of the team, forward thinking on presentation and actively looks at ways of improving the Catering service
- Understands and promotes the Ethos of DLT
- Understands and adheres to company policies and procedures
- To carry out all reasonable tasks as required by management
