**Job Purpose Statement**:
The role of the Inclusion Officer is to work closely with children and their families, supporting learners within the provision with their learning and behaviour needs, supporting families and working with external agencies. By working closely with line manager, tutors and relevant members of the senior lead team, the Inclusion Officer will deal with a range of issues using the companies Behavioural Policy, Safeguarding Policy and sensitivity. The Inclusion Officer role forms an integral part of our inclusion team, working with children and families who may be receiving support from both inside the provision and from external agencies including Social Services.

**Main Responsibilities and Duties**:
Family Support:

- Take on responsibility as key worker for specific families in the provision
- Where relevant, meet with parents and outside agencies under the direction of the Inclusion Manager
- Keep a detailed record of all work done with students
- Work with hard to reach families encouraging them to engage and liaise with the provision.
- Carry out home visits when and where it is felt necessary.
- Source help for needy families and help families to access support provided by charities/agencies.

Student Attendance:

- Monitor the day to day attendance of all students at the provision and raise concerns where necessary.
- Support the improvement of attendance and punctuality by working with students and parents to identify why children are late or not achieving full attendance.

Student Behaviour:

- Support children who are having difficulties in class or in the playground and mentor these students to promote good behaviour.
- Deal with incidents of behaviour using the Behaviour Policy and support children who need to be withdrawn from lessons for short periods
- Identify children who would benefit from specific interventions such as protective behaviours and work with these children on a regular basis.
- Build good relationships with students and ensure time is spent praising and acknowledging good behaviour

Safeguarding:

- Be a designated Child Protection Officer at the provision
- Play a proactive role in safeguarding across the provision and attend Inclusion team meetings
- Make referrals where appropriate
- Lead on Early Help for specified families by opening cases, arranging meetings and gaining information from parents and students.
- Where appropriate, represent the company at all child protection conferences.
- Provide written documentation in relation to specified families for both internal and external purposes
- Maintain excellent relationships with appropriate outside agencies and other provisions to ensure high quality external support where possible/appropriate.

General:

- Maintain confidentiality at all times.
- To support admin duties in relation to child welfare
- Responsibility for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children at the provision.
- Maintain excellent relationships with appropriate outside agencies, to ensure we can access high quality external support where possible and appropriate.
- Play an active part in promoting teamwork and good communication throughout the provision

**Qualifications **Essential Desirable

Relevant qualifications e.g., Level 2 classroom support qualification or willingness X to work towards.
Level 3 classroom support qualification X
5 GCSEs including passes in English and maths. X

**Experience**

Experience of supporting young adults with a range of learning difficulties and/or X disabilities or a willingness to undertake training.

Experience of Microsoft Office Applications X

**Skills**

The ability to work in a manner to support the changing needs of students X ensuring differentiation is implemented within the classroom.
Additional skills/experience e.g., sign language, dyslexia support etc. X
