We are based in Hertfordshire, in the town of Hoddesdon. The Hoddesdon campus, consisting of several purpose built scientific and administrative buildings together with a purpose built conference area has more than 5,000m2 of premier R&D space and houses an established Process Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry and Drug Discovery team, and a newly formed Formulation Development department. The Hoddesdon site has state-of-the-art Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standard facilities for the development of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API), formulation development and process chemistry.We offer our employees a highly supportive team-work environment, enabling them to develop and liberate their true potential.

Having recently undergone a period of growth and expansion, we are looking for a Laboratory Assistant to support and facilitate the scientific work on site by providing key stock replenishment, waste collection and lab services support in safe and efficient manner.

**Responsibilities**:

- Providing and maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness for production equipment and facilities in compliance with GMP standards and company procedures.
- Fulfil material, equipment and stock requests for laboratory areas.
- Ensure that stock rooms are replenished.
- Deliver received items to the order originator / storage location.
- Ensure the safe removal of hazardous waste from laboratory areas and movement for onward processing in line with site procedures.
- Re-fill laboratory solvent wash bottles.
- Ensure a high standard of cleanliness of areas and report any cleaning needs to the Lab Services Team Leader.
- Collect dirty lab coats and replenish with clean ones.
- Ensure that all the Department’s plant and equipment is maintained and that any discrepancies are reported to the Lab Services Team Leader immediately.

**Essential Requirements**:

- A minimum of a High School diploma or equivalent
- Have an understanding and awareness of the need for good safety processes and procedures
- IT skills with a good working knowledge of MS Office
- Effective written and oral communication skills
- Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach.

**Desirable Requirements**:

- Previous experience within the pharmaceutical industry and of GMP
- Stock management and warehousing experience
- Previous experience of handling chemicals / hazardous waste
