United Living Energy is a UK gas and energy engineering specialist offering design, build and maintenance on critical national infrastructure for the UK gas asset owners. United Living Water Limited provide a comprehensive range of water infrastructure services covering all aspects of pipeline networks including investigation, design, planning infrastructure maintenance, mains rehabilitation, new connections, metering and repairs.
**Job Description** The purpose of the role**
To support the engineering department in the delivery of welding and fabrication duties to the wider business community. Whilst developing your technical and manual skills to be able to fabricate the UK’s high
- and low-pressure gas infrastructure.
Specific Duties
- To attend college and complete coursework on time and to a high standard alongside working site hours
- To attend and fully participate in regular training and reviews with mentor and line manager
- Wear appropriate clothing/PPE at all times
- Behave in a professional and appropriate manner
- Manually weld tubes and pipes to high standards of quality and integrity using a Manual Metal Arc (MMA) and a minimum of one other manual arc welding processes from Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG), Plasma Arc Welding (PAW), Metal Inert Gas (MIG)/Metal Active Gas (MAG) and Flux Cored Arc Welding (FCAW).
- Continually monitor and adapt to achieve the quality of work demanded by high integrity piping systems, necessitating significant manual dexterity, and coordination.
- Work to detailed engineering specifications necessary to ensure safe & reliable operation of the finished pipe work system.
- Interaction with a wide range of people and organisations including Supervisors, Engineers, Pipe Fitters, Stores Operatives, Welding Inspectors, Non-Destructive Technicians, Quality personnel.
- Pipe welders’ work is regularly assessed to ensure continued quality of welding though visual inspection, non-destructive testing and pre-commissioning pressure testing (hydraulic or pneumatic testing
- Responsible for the safety, quality, productivity and accuracy of their own work whilst ensuring it conforms to a relevant pipe welding specification.
- Working autonomously during their planning and production activities to being an integrated part of a wider team working on the overall pipework system, reporting to a workplace supervisor
- Clean and take care of company tools and equipment
- Be punctual, polite & respectful at all times
**Qualifications** Competencies: Knowledge & Experience**
- 4 GCSE’s at Grade A* to C (9 - 4) or equivalent including maths, english and science
- Good level of physical fitness, including ability to lift, and work at heights
- Self-motivated with a desire for long term study
- Good timekeeper
