**Purpose and objectives of the role**

The purpose of this role is to carry out routine day to day care of animals on farm and creature corner sections with a large range of taxa. Under the guidance of experienced staff members this is the perfect role for someone new to animal keeping hoping to gain skills and experience in the industry in their first paid role.

This contract is seasonal however there may be opportunities to stay on longer at the end of the season.

**Main duties and responsibilities**
- Feeding and mucking out.
- General animal care.
- Animal handling & welfare sessions with the public and schools.
- Public talks and engagement in line with company event and daily schedules.
- Engage with social media content.
- Maintenance including fencing repairs and field maintenance, weeding etc.
- Maintaining the cleanliness of all public areas, washing stations and walkways.
- Use of utility vehicles, safety checks and maintenance.
- Complete all records, daily reports.
- Monitor animal feed and follow stock rotation measures as communicated by senior staff
- Follow all safety procedures when working around category 1 animals with experience staff supervision.
- Follow diet plans and seasonal changes carefully and providing feedback to management on their effectiveness.
- Ensure that all public areas are ready to receive customers by opening times including the handwash stations.
- Ensure all equipment is maintained and kept in good working order.
- Other duties as requested by the Senior Staff and Senior Management.

All members of staff are expected to be flexible with their working hours, adaptable and organised, with good attention to detail. They will be working as part of a team and also working alone, so will often have to use their own initiative. As we are open to the public, staff need to be presentable, friendly, and personable with good communication skills.

**Job Types**: Part-time, Fixed term contract, Zero hours contract
Contract length: 10 months

**Salary**: £7.49-£10.42 per hour

Expected hours: 18 - 45 per week
