**Your role**:
This role forms a critical part of a Supported Apprenticeships pilot project. The project seeks to remove the barriers that our young people with broad range Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including mental health conditions such as anxiety and depression, often face.

This will be a unique opportunity to demonstrate pastoral support skills alongside wider employer engagement, whilst testing a new approach and working with a broad range of stakeholders both within the council and externally. You will be required to build relationships with young people and a selection of local employers and work towards achieving sustained apprenticeship starts for these individuals.

**About you**:
We are looking for a caring and enthusiastic individual that has the confidence and skills to make this exciting role a success and see the project through to its conclusion. You must be highly motivated and committed to changing the lives of these young people and be able to demonstrate good interpersonal and communication skills across a range of stakeholders, building rapport and positive working relationships as you go.

We are looking for someone with experience of supporting young people, specifically young people with SEND. You will need to be flexible in your approach to work and motivated to work independently to achieve positive outcomes for young people.

You will demonstrate the Be Wigan behaviours of positivity, accountability, courageousness and kindness.

**About us**:
Wigan Council has been voted ‘Overall Council of the Year’ at the APSE (Association for Public Service Excellence) Awards and has recently published The Deal 2030, our ambitious plan for our borough. We are signed up to the Greater Manchester Continuous Service Commitment ensuring that your service will be continuous or 'unbroken' between the supporting organisations.

Part of the Economic Development & Skills Team, we support local businesses and residents by developing employment pathways to create and fill more job opportunities. Our innovative approach helps to find local solutions for our employers, whilst changing the lives of our residents for the better.

Here at Wigan, we are proud to support flexible working patterns, when the service can accommodate this. We also take a blended approach to where we work, depending on the work we do. This may include working from home (My Place), the office (Our Place) or the community (Your Place). We like to thank our employees for their hard work and commitment by giving them the opportunity to access a range of exclusive rewards and benefits click here to find out more about working for #TeamWigan.
