**About The Service**
The Gardens Team sits within the Estate Management Team and undertakes restorative work to neglected gardens and green spaces on Cardiff Council Housing land, local neighbourhoods and the wider community.

The team are able to undertake extensive vegetation and tree work to assist the Council in adhering to its legal, social and environmental responsibilities and helping Cardiff’s residents to enjoy their surroundings.

**About the job**
The role is primarily heavy garden work such as brush cutting, hedge trimming, removal of overgrowth and self-sown smaller trees. The operatives will work as part of a team on occasions where obstacles, household waste and refuse will need to be removed before the garden work can be undertaken.

The post holders will be required to drive a 3.5 tonne tipper truck throughout the City and will work closely with other teams during the week either individually or as part of a larger workforce on bigger jobs.

**What We Are Looking For From You**
The post holders will need experience of using professional garden equipment. You will have a determination for seeing a job through in all weather conditions and be alert to potential hazards while working.

There will be the need for you to undertake regular training so a willingness to learn and develop your potential will be a condition of your appointment. You will need to be self-motivated with high standards of workmanship while being flexible and resourceful when the need arises. You will have a willingness to work with different teams within the Local Action Team department and take on other duties commensurate with the grade, sometimes at short notice.

You will work closely with the Lead Garden Operatives and to ensure the aims of the Local Action Team are met.
