City of Portsmouth College was formed through the merger of Highbury College and Portsmouth College in August 2021. We have made rapid progress in bringing the two legacy colleges together to create one college for Portsmouth. We are now moving into the 2nd phase of our strategic plan, with an ambitious vision driving towards excellence in all we do. We are aiming to become an outstanding college, firmly routed in our local community and making a tangible difference to the lives of people in the area.

We are now seeking a visionary leader of teaching to shape, implement and inspire our amazing staff in the pursuit of excellence. This new position of Deputy Principal - Quality of Education and Digital Innovation will lead on the effective development and implementation of the college’s vision and strategic objectives for an outstanding learning experience, ensuring all our students and apprentices across all our campuses are able to achieve their ambitions. You will ensure our teaching staff demonstrate excellence in their teaching, learning and assessment, and that we are leading the way with up-to-date pedagogical practice which must include the most up to date integration of technology. You will ensure our staff development programme effectively enthuses, inspires and supports our staff to embrace new technologies and deliver our vision for excellence.

This role reports into the Deputy CEO, Curriculum and Quality and will be a key member of the senior management team. You will act as the strategic lead for a designated provision type, such as our Academic programmes. You will be a strong team player with excellent communication skills; able to work effectively across college teams as well as with the Executive Team and Governors.

As a highly experienced senior leader in further education, you will have the ambition, drive and track record to deliver true excellence that supports learners to achieve their goals whilst enhancing the economy and prosperity of Portsmouth.
