28th-30th of May to begin work the following week.

Upon completion, you will receive a Level 2 Award in Instructing Cycle Training.

The Go Velo team has successfully delivered Bikeability and Adult Cycle Training to more than 40,000 people in Lancashire since its formation in 2009 encouraging people to engage in cycling.

**Job description**

Go Velo Ltd are looking for excellent communicators to deliver fun, inspiring and confidence
boosting Bikeability cycle training courses across Lancashire. The work you do is highly
National Standard instructor. The role will appeal to individuals who enjoy any form of cycling
and/or have some previous experience or a strong interest in coaching, teaching or working
with children in schools.
Position: Cycle Instructor / Event Support
Hours: Mostly term time within a school day, however extra hours are always available
Pay: £13 per hour

Location: All Lancashire districts, we cover a large geographical area - flexibility and
willingness to travel is essential.
The role:
Our aim is to inspire people with a love of cycling by giving them the confidence and skills to
cycle more often. Cycle training is a fun, exciting and practical programme promoting the use
of bicycles as an enjoyable form of transport.
Our Instructors work on a casual basis, in pairs or as a team with other Go Velo instructors.
The instructing will predominately involve training children in primary schools to Bikeability
Level 1 and 2 during school hours, over 4 days in each week. We also deliver a variety of
other cycling services to children and adults outside school hours. Hours are agreed in
advance and the work requires an enhanced DBS disclosure which will be paid for by Go
Velo Ltd.
You may have experience of the following:
Coach, Teacher, Instructor, Trainer, Mentor, Tutor, Lecturer, Guide, Adviser, Educator,
Leader, Speaker, Outdoor Education, Cycling, Teaching, Coaching, Instructing.

CYCLE INSTRUCTOR / EVENT SUPPORT
Post title - Cycling Instructor
Reports to - Megan Dowd & Kirsti Grayson
JOB PURPOSE
Assist with the delivery of National Standard cycle training. The training
provides a basic skills course traffic free (Level 1), basic on-road training
course (Level 2) and an advanced skills course (Level 3) to children and
adults.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist with the delivery of National Standard cycle training and / or led
rides as organised by Go Velo Ltd
- Complete course paperwork including registers, assessments, course
reports and results.
- Complete risk assessments of the trainees, cycles, and the training area
(including on-road locations).
- Collection of consent forms at the start of training sessions.
- Accountable for the safety and welfare of colleagues and trainees.
- Ensure training is delivered in line with Go Velo Ltd health and safety
policy with an awareness of accident and incident reporting procedures.
- Enable trainees to cycle safely, promoting cycling as a means of transport
and a fun, healthy activity.
- Promote cycling and the organisation by attending events and supporting
our stakeholders
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS
- Regular and competent cyclist.
- Understanding and awareness of road and traffic environments.
- Ability to communicate effectively with all trainees including children,
parents and schools.
- Be decisive, maintain good discipline, inspire confidence and give
encouragement.
- Be enthusiastic about cycling with an understanding of cycling as a sport,
means of transport, leisure pursuit and healthy form of exercise.
- Work as part of a team
- The role is dependent upon the outcome of an enhanced DBS check.
DESIRABLE REQUIREMENTS
- Be a National Standard qualified cycling instructor and / or Ride Leader*.
- Hold a First Aid qualification*.
- Understand basic cycle maintenance.

Pay: £13.00-£22.50 per hour
