We are the General Teaching Council for Scotland. We register and regulate the teaching profession as a safeguard for the quality of education in Scotland. **Application and Selection Process**
- Invites to assessment centre issued by Tuesday 31 January 2023.
- Assessment centre will take place on Friday 3 February at Clerwood House, 96 Clermiston Road, Edinburgh EH12 6UT. You must be available to attend assessment centre on the date stated. We advise you to hold this date in your diary.

**Role Purpose**

**Head of Policy **at GTC Scotland is part of our strategic leadership team. Working in close collaboration with the other Heads, Strategic Directors and Chief Executive, the role leads the creation of our policy and research, the communication of our policy views, our stakeholder relations and our brand and influence as a trusted expert and thought leader. The role also has oversight of GTC Scotland’s legal and governance function to ensure that we get things right through effective governance, we manage legal risk effectively, we proactively keep our legislative framework under review as a statutory body and we act in accordance with the law.

As an ambassador for GTC Scotland internally and externally, this role involves significant leadership responsibilities of others and tasks ultimately ensuring that GTC Scotland delivers our statutory functions and meets the needs of the teaching profession, our partners and the public.
