Roves Farm are looking for an aspiring apprentice butcher to join our team here at Roves Farm shop butchery.

By completing this 18-24-month programme you will become a qualified butcher.

As an apprentice you will have bespoke training plan, and as a part of this, you will complete a nationally recognised award through our training provider M.E.A.T. Ipswich.

All training and learning will take place in the workplace where the training provider and our experienced butchery team will look after your development and make sure that you are learning new skills.

**Who we are?**

Roves Farm is a family run, working farm open to the public all year round located just three miles east of Swindon, on the Wiltshire and Oxfordshire border. Our visitors centre opened in 1992 to welcome people of all ages to come and experience and learn about animals, farming, and the countryside. As well as our visitors centre, we are now predominantly a livestock farm with our commercial sheep flocks, pigs and cow herds supplying our farm shop and café with high quality meat products throughout the year.

**Role during training**
- Undertake traditional butchery skills such as breaking, cutting, and de-boning carcasses.
- Using butchery tools and machinery including mincing, sausage making, bacon curing, vacuum packing.
- Working as a team and customer care skills.
- Ensure safe working practices and PPE is always worn.
- Maintaining stock control and rotation of meat/products.
- Receive deliveries and check content.
- Always ensure a clean working environment.
- Complete daily paperwork.

**Qualifications awarded.**
- Butchery Level 2 Apprenticeship certificate
- Level 2 award in food safety
- Level 2 award in health and safety
- Level 2 award in knife skills

**Schedule**
- For the first four months of training Mon-Friday 8.30-5pm (40-hour week).
- After four months, two consecutive Saturdays a month will be required to be worked. **Week 1 and 2** Mon -Friday, **Week 3 and 4** Tues-Saturday.
- We are closed between Christmas and New year, and you will be required to reserve a portion of your annual holiday entitlement to cover this period. Flexibility is expected especially during peak periods such as the run up to Christmas and school holidays.
- Holiday entitlement 28 days annually.
