We are looking to recruit a motivated, proactive, passionate individual to join our team as either a Trainee Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACP) or a qualified ACP to work within the emergency surgical wards and surgical Same Day Emergency Care Unit (sSDEC).

The role is within the surgical division, a busy environment which has two 33 bedded surgical wads; F5 and F6. The main duties include working with medical team to provide a high standard of care in the initial admission, ongoing assessment, and management of a variety of surgical conditions to supporting discharge.

The successful applicant will work on a rota which spans across 7 days.

The role entails providing high quality patient care through assessment, investigation, evaluation, diagnosis, decision making and establishing treatment plans in the surgical setting. Excellent communication skills are essential as you will be working alongside surgeons and members of the multidisciplinary team to plan care and optimise patient outcomes.

STAFF CAR PARKING

Staff Car Parking on the West Suffolk Hospital Site is eligible for individuals working outside of the core hours, 07:00 - 18:30.

For individuals working within the core hours, the Trust offers parking off site at the Bury St Edmunds Rugby Club, which is serviced by a regular shuttle bus to and from the Hospital. Details of the bus timetable can be found in the on-line starter pack on the West Suffolk Hospital website.

As part of the AP programme the post holder will be working towards the following and on successful completion will be able to:

- Work in accordance with the Multi-professional Framework for Advanced Clinical Practice in England (HEE, 2017).
- Utilise advanced clinical skills within an interdepartmental and/or multi-disciplinary team to ensure that patients within General surgery receive holistic, timely and high-quality clinical care.
- Exercise autonomous clinical expertise, high levels of judgement, discretion and decision making in clinical care, in accordance with their scope of practice.
- Draw on expertise on the four pillars of advanced practice to lead and influence improvements to standards of care.
- Develop a culture of organisational learning to inspire future and existing staff.
- Influence or lead on the improvement of clinical care though clinical governance, audit, quality improvement and research in collaboration with clinical and academic colleagues.
- Demonstrate compassionate leadership in daily working.
