As a receptionist you will be a friendly face and the first point of contact at SMART's Emergency Accommodation in Bedford.

KEY TASKS
- Greeting and checking in and out residents and visitors.
- Answer the telephone promptly in a welcoming and professional manner.
- Transfer calls to the appropriate extension taking messages when person requested in not available.
- Ensure the reception area is tidy, warm and welcoming.
- Ad-hoc admin tasks - replenishing information packs and key documents
- Provide up to date and accurate local and national contact details for signposting
- Log all resident based interactions on a database
- Attend mandatory staff training.
- To attend staff and team meetings.
- Undertake any other duties within the competence of the post holder under the direction of the site Manager and Caseworkers.
- Keep a record of all feedback complaints and compliments
- Pull reports from the database

To be an outstanding receptionist, you will have:

- Administration experience through either paid or voluntary work.
- Customer service experience through either paid or voluntary work.
- A positive attitude towards your role
- Great communication skills and experience of working effectively with others
- Excellent skills in respect of both written and spoken English.
- Brilliant organisational skills.
- The ability to work in a busy environment and to be able to work under pressure
- A methodical approach to work.
- The ability to connect with people who may have had adverse life experiences and present with challenging behaviour (and be able to effectively de-escalate these types of situations).
- Some understanding of the issues faced by homeless or vulnerably housed people and the difficulties they experience in accessing services (or willingness to learn).
- A caring and empathetic approach to helping people and an adaptable approach to individuals with complex needs.
- A good awareness of and ability to manage professional boundaries.
- The desire to help individuals to make positive change to their lives, often when they feel at their lowest point.
- A good working knowledge of MS Office software, e.g. Word, PowerPoint & Excel.
- Prepare service user records and
- Maintain the service user records to ensure they are completed correctly. Follow computer procedures to ensure that service user records are properly maintained.

The following attributes are desirable, but not essential:

- Some experience of working with people that have complex needs or working with vulnerable adults.
- Experience of working in supported accommodation or a homeless centre or hostel.
- Experience of recording information using a database, specifically INFORM
