**Project Editor Vacancy at Flame Tree Publishing (London)**

Are you an experienced Editorial Assistant looking for their next step, or an Editor seeking new challenges? Would you relish a role in which you work with both beautiful artwork and gripping storytelling, as well as compelling mythology, history and literature?

**Flame Tree** is an independent book, calendar and stationery publisher. We aim, always, to make objects and books which are both beautiful and practical, that enrich the lives of the people who buy them as well as those who work with us and partner with us, who read and enjoy what we make. We work with amazing artists, well-known institutions, and a wide range of authors, editors and writers, from established names to new and emerging voices.

**This role** is part of the editorial team, reporting to the Editorial Director. The Project Editor will project manage titles in Gift (stationery and calendars) and Books (usually text-only classic texts, histories, literatures, and new short story collections), taking them from concept to production, liaising with internal colleagues and external partners along the way.
- An eye for good design and ability to make successful image choices.
- The enthusiasm for substantial amounts of reading with a view to making swift, succinct assessments, whether for classic content or fiction submissions.
- A thorough eye for detail and consistency in text and design.
- Strong copy writing, editing and proofreading skills.
- Methodical and clear processes for record keeping, planning and scheduling.
- A proactive approach to communication with colleagues.
- An understanding of the importance of building and maintaining strong relationships with licensors and stakeholders.
- High-level understanding of Word, Excel and InDesign for editorial needs; and ideally a familiarity with Google systems.

**Salary**: £25,000.00-£26,500.00 per year
