**Role Purpose **The Senior People consultant will be highly proactive with a commitment to continous improvement and a driver for change, including key outputs They will contribute to the design and ongoing transformation of the HR Consultancy Team and its offer to services. This will include co-design of the package of people management training and ER support to the organisation as part of the Workforce of the Future project.

Working closely with HR Business Partners and HR&OD colleagues they will develop metrics and provide insight into where interventions can be made so that support can be provided to services and preventative action can be taken where necessary.

This covers workforce and service design, organisational change, people development, employee engagement, performance and achievement, human resource planning, people management practices, leadership, well being, inclusion and diversity.

They will confidently manage the most complex case work spanning the full range of HR&OD issues across all areas of the business. A key responsibility will be coaching and mentoring team colleagues. They will direct and allocate work amongst the team, and ensure that casework is resolved in a timely manner and in line with legislation/ policy. Outcome focused the role holder will ensure that cases are concluded in line with policy and good practice.

The Senior People Consultatnt will demonstrate resilience in the face of setbacks, uncertainty or ambiguity, in order to seek a resolution.

**Work Context **The People Consultancy Team is part of the Business Partnering and Employment Practice within the HR&OD function. The team consists Consultants working in roles ranging from grade PS7 to PS10. It is managed by the People Consultant Lead

(PS12). The team supports the council in achieving its ambitions for the benefit of Surrey residents. It drives transformation and organisation-wide cultural change and works in a culture that:

- makes decisions based on evidence;
- looks ahead through scenario planning and future proofing;
- is confident and risk aware;
- provides constructive challenge based on their understanding of service need and drivers;
- and is outward looking and driven to achieve.

There is complete alignment of HR&OD with Recruitment and Resourcing, in addition to the function working closely with the

Transformation Support Unit, Internal Communications and Engagement, Employee Services and Data Operations.

The People Consultants primary function is to provide generalist HR&OD advice and guidance to managers that is compliant with policy/ legislation and meets business needs.
