**About this job**:
The CIPFA Trainee role will be based in the Finance Division. Finance is primarily responsible for overseeing the Council's annual gross revenue expenditure budget of over £800m and an annual budget for capital expenditure estimated at over £500m.

The CIPFA training programme provides you with a range of practical experience and support to study for a professional accountancy qualification, enabling you to develop into a senior leader of the future. You can expect to have several different placements and opportunity to experience a range of work including,
- Work in a service finance team supporting budget holders;
- Build business plans and the medium term financial plan;
- Technical accounting and year end closure of accounts.
- specialist placements which could include Capital and Treasury Team.

You will be highly ambitious and committed to progress your career in public finance alongside making a difference for the benefit of communities. You will provide support and advice to managers and staff across the organisation, be proactive and resourceful at solving problems, think creatively and move things forward using your own initiative. You will embody the values of LBBD and strive to deliver continuous improvement.

The role provides an excellent opportunity to learn a whole range of finance activities whilst balancing studying for the CIPFA qualification to enable you to become a fully qualified accountant. For those with ambition and talent, career progression into management positions, whether finance or general, are very good.
