Job Title Domestic Assistant

Reports to Manager / Deputy Manager

Location

**Job Purpose**

To ensure the clean and hygienic maintenance of the home, to be able to work under own initiative and be adaptable fitting in with the needs of the home and individuals at all times. Domestic assistants will be given delegated areas of the home for which they will be responsible, however, at times where their colleagues are absent for any reason, all communal areas of the home to be cleaned. All rooms as well as delegated areas to be checked and given at least, a basic clean.

**Principal Accountabilities and Activities**
- To provide the highest standards of cleanliness throughout the establishment.
- To communicate with the care team on arrival at work to ascertain if a resident is confined to bed/entertaining visitors.
- To assist in maintaining safe levels of practice, anything you notice during the course of your work through reporting any malfunction of equipment or fittings that require maintenance or do not meet the required standards through normal cleaning procedures.
- To communicate your findings to the manager/deputy manager or other senior staff.
- To familiarise yourself with and adhere to the Health and Safety Policy and COSHH Policy which are in the Policy and Procedure Manual. To read, understand and follow instructions on safety data sheets re use of chemicals which are contained in the COSHH folder in the office.
- To clean sanitary and other equipment with particular attention to guidelines for the control of germs and infestation.
- To attend staff meetings, staff training and mandatory training.
- Comply with written and verbally agreed conditions of employment e.g. hours of work, time keeping etc.
- To be respectful and courteous when dealing with colleagues, relatives and other public and professional, so promoting company philosophies
- To assist in the maintenance of a safe and healthy work environment by ensuring adherence to the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and Welfare Policies and Procedures.
- Domestic Assistants are expected to undertake any other duties deemed reasonable, required by the manager, deputy manager or other senior staff

**Qualifications Training and Experience**
- Good communication skills
- Ability to work within a team environment

**This job description is intended to give the post holder an appreciation of the role of Domestic Assistant and the range of duties. However, it is not exhaustive and may be reviewed from time to time.**

**Job Types**: Contract, Permanent

Pay: £11.70-£12.52 per hour
