Health Care Assistant

We are recruiting Health Care Assistants (HCA’s) for our Short Stay Unit, The Coleman Unit (TCU). We are looking for individuals who are highly motivated, compassionate, enthusiastic, creative and passionate wanting to gain experience as well as share their learning, knowledge and experience with colleagues. You will work under the supervision of Nurses in the day to day delivery of effective high quality patient’s care and safety, and be part of this already and somewhat established team.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, caring and passionate individuals with an interest in providing exceptional care to patients on our patients.
Maintain a high standard of patient focused care in accordance with Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital Hospitals NHS Trust policies and procedures
Maintain a high standard of safe clinical work when carrying out duties as assigned by the nurses.
Maintain a safe and clean working environment.
Communicate with patients and carers and escalate to senior staff to ensure they have access to appropriate information.
Demonstrate personal responsibility for compliance with infection control policies and procedures
Carry out nursing duties as assigned by trained staff
To work with the nursing staff to deliver individualised nursing care.
To report to a trained nurse care given to patients.
Assist patients with their dietary needs as directed by a trained nurse.

To provide nursing care needs to patients under the supervision and guidance of senior staff.
Participate in the admission and discharge of patients in conjunction with the multi-professional team as directed by a trained nurse.
Escort patients to other areas of the hospital including theatres
To work towards extended health care assistant competencies.
Acquire a basic knowledge of conditions treated on the ward, and be aware of the hazards which may result from incorrect procedures.
Communicate with members of the multidisciplinary team to facilitate continuity of care and promote effective team working.
The post holder will work in partnership with the Ward / Department Sister to ensure that the standards of nursing care are met at all times. This includes assisting the ward / department Sister and the whole team to meet the agreed standards of hospital cleanliness within the work environment.
Commitment to the development of nursing within the clinical setting under the guidance and supervision of senior staff, support senior staff in research based practice and learning along the line to improve patient’s care.
Commitment to working in a multi-disciplinary team, acting professionally at all times in line with The Royal national Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Trust Values.
Commitment to maintaining high standards of care in accordance with The Royal national Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Trust policies and procedures.
Be responsible for learning, ensuring all Mandatory training are up to date at all times in line with Trust Learning and Development policy.
