**The Role**:
This role will lead the technical development of policies on the use of Electronic Conspicuity (EC) devices in UK Airspace ensuring the project deliverables are technically sound, achievable, and implementable. You will work closely with the Leads of other projects to ensure alignment of programme level decisions

You will provide technical assurance and guidance to the rest of the Delivery Team and external stakeholders as required. You will engage with the wider CAA to ensure that internal stakeholders’ needs are met by the studies and strategic direction of the Airspace Modernisation Delivery Team.

This is a hands-on position which will rely on you having excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills, as well as a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.

**Key Accountabilities**:

- Lead the development of Electronic Conspicuity requirements that will determine the future policy and/or standards
- Work cohesively with other dependent streams of work such as Ground Infrastructure, Detect and Avoid (DAA) and Uncrewed Traffic Management (UTM)
- Ensure alignment to the Airspace Modernisation Strategy and Future of Flight Programme
- Lead and facilitate discussions between internal and external stakeholders, including the DfT.
- Actively liaise across the CAA to ensure future policy and implementation of Electronic Conspicuity is acceptably safe and appropriate.
- Work with DfT and other stakeholders, as appropriate, to inform the strategy for funding, delivery and support of Electronic Conspicuity

**About You**:
**Essential**
- A sound working knowledge of General Aviation, Drone needs and operational practices.
- Able to rapidly establish personal credibility with technical specialists and develop constructive relationships, with effective communication skills both written and oral in engaging with contacts at all levels throughout the CAA and externally.

- Confidence to tackle unknown situations and demonstrate inventive and innovative solutions.
- Able to constructively challenge current thinking, present options in a way that facilitates decision making.
- Organised, thorough, demonstrating flexibility and desire to work independently, within a team and cross departmentally.
- Have experience of MS Office packages specifically Word, Excel and Outlook.

**Desirable**
- A good knowledge of the CAA and UK aviation industry supported by an understanding of key legislative factors influencing and determining the CAA’s role as an airspace regulator, such as the Civil Aviation Act, Air Navigation Order, Rules of the Air Regulations, and the appropriate MAA Regulatory Publications.
- Experience of Air Traffic Management (ATM ) and specifically Air Traffic Control (ATC) operations in UK airspace both en-route and terminal.
- Have knowledge of the UK Airspace Modernisation Strategy (AMS)

**Additional Information**

For many appointments within the CAA, these roles require access to operationally sensitive infrastructure and/or Nationally Protected information. For these roles the post holders must undergo National Security Vetting and achieve the appropriate level of clearance.

To be vetted we will usually expect a reasonable period of residency in the UK so that meaningful checks can be undertaken. For this role this will need to be 3 years.
