You will join the Haematology department working primarily within Cancer care on Winchester site. The role will involve providing direct patient care mostly in outpatient setting, helping with outpatient clinics and performing procedures, primarily bone marrow biopsies. You will also be involved in inpatient ward rounds.

In addition, the post holder will work closely with other members of the Cancer care team and Pathology team.

The Physician Associate will work under the direction of the Haematology Consultants.

We are seeking an enthusiastic Physician Associate to play a key role in the delivery of the integrated services and to become a key member of the team.

As an integrated Physician Associate you will be responsible for ensuring that patient care for service users with complex co-morbidities is of high standards at all times and that treatment meets the department’s requirements.

The post holder will work with the Specialties to take forward best practice and education within the Division. It is expected that the post holder will be a role model and ambassador for Physician Associates and represent the department at local and external meetings as appropriate.

A designated consultant will supervise the Physician Associate with an individual mentor to overview career development.

To exercise a high degree of personal autonomy when assessing, managing and planning care for a caseload of patients with insight when this this is outside scope of practice.
To attend and participate in Consultant and Registrar led clinics and MDTs.
To manage clinical caseloads daily.
To develop extensive specialist knowledge and experience the identified medical specialties. Take part in all of the treatment and preventative healthcare services of the employing facility as and when requested and work within the policies and procedures of the organisation.
Participate in both departmental audits and specific audits on delivering services.
Participate in Quality improvement and service development.
Ensuring that patients have access to all relevant information as appropriate.
Ensure that all appropriate onward referrals have been made.
Liaise with appropriate healthcare professionals to improve care of patients and their families and to aid discharge planning.
Liaise with community healthcare professionals as necessary to ensure holistic care of patients
