Trainee Greenkeeper

This position will provide you with full training and an opportunity to study for NVQ Level 2 sports turf management allowing the trainee Greenkeeper to help with the continued development of the Golf Course. Working under the direction of the Golf Course Manager and Deputy Golf Course Manager, the applicant will ideally have the following attributes:

- must be able to work on their own and as part of a team, and enjoy being outdoors.
- work in all weather's.
- attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions essential.
- good communication and friendly disposition
- desire to develop themselves.
- be passionate, enthusiastic, hard working and self-motivated.
- can work well within a highly productive team.
- a full UK driving licence or the means to travel to work independently.
- golf greenkeeping knowledge is not needed,
- Being a keen golfer would be an advantage, but not essential._

Hours: The position of Trainee Greenkeeper will be based on full time hours, Monday to Friday and will require alternate weekend shifts on a 1 in 3 rota basis.

**Duties include**:

- General maintenance and upkeep of the golf course
- Cutting greens, tees, fairways and rough using ride-on and pedestrian mowers
- Bunker edging and raking
- Strimming
- Driving range maintenance
- Keeping all areas of the estate well presented

**What a Trainee Will Learn**:

- Preparing the golf course for play
- Preparing and using specialist equipment to maintain and renovate turf surfaces
- Maintaining and renovating bunkers
- Maintaining drainage
- How to identify plants and trees
