We require a Technical Author to develop documentation for a large global Digital Transformation Project for an internationally renowned education organisation that will transform the education and assessment experience of students in approximately 3,500 schools worldwide.

Working as a member of a team, a Technical Author is responsible for documentation development, including researching and defining required documentation scope, understanding complex product functionality (largely though their own use and investigation of RM’s assessment products, but with support from product experts where necessary), creating document drafts, managing document reviews, and document updates and maintenance.

This role will be responsible for developing client tailored documentation to meet the requirements of a large Digital Transformation project for an internationally renowned education organisation and will involve working closely with the client Digital Transformation Team and other internal roles supporting the transformation project.

**Responsibilities**:

- Develop documentation using appropriate tooling based on the requirements of the Digital Transformation Project working closely with the client team and internal project teams. Creating and editing pictures and diagrams as necessary as part of the documentation. Documentation is currently developed in Microsoft Word but we plan to adopt more industry standard authoring tooling in early 2024.
- Collating and verifying information needed to create documentation, primarily through independent use and investigation of solutions.
- Liaise with Product Managers, Product Owners and Software Engineers as needed to support product knowledge and clarify required information.
- Work on project teams to meet agreed timescales.
- The job holder is responsible for the technical, grammatical and typographical accuracy of the documented information and for working with internal teams to ensure that documentation is appropriately reviewed.
- Provide expertise and editorial support to other Technical Authors and other RM staff.

**Experience**:
A Technical Author must have excellent communication skills, and the ability to work closely with key internal and client stakeholders and internal teams.

In addition, they will have:

- Advanced Microsoft Word skills
- Experience of working with authoring tooling such as Mapcap Flare
- Good verbal skills and excellent written communication skills
- Ability to structure information in a logical order and to turn technical information into plain English
- Strong focus on detail
- Ability to understand the functionality of complex, technical products
- Ability to think critically to consider beyond standard modes of use for complex products and suggest potential product improvements
- Ability to work to a schedule and meet deadlines
- Good interpersonal/team working skills
- Ability to prioritise and balance own workload
