Prescribing Administrator

The purpose of the Prescribing Administrator is to ensure that prescription requests are managed in an efficient and accurate manner and patients have a point of contact for medication related queries.
The Prescribing Administrator will adhere at all times to the practice’s agreed protocols and procedures.
- Provide an effective service as part of the Medicines Management Team to ensure prescription requests are actioned within the necessary timeframe.
- Liaising with patients, care homes and pharmacies about medication related queries.
- Liaise with community pharmacy teams about supply disruptions and alert clinicians of any issues and suitable alternatives as advised by the community pharmacy.
- Make accurate records in a patients notes of any communication.
- Contribute to audits to improve the quality and safety of prescribing.
- Assist in delivery of incentives to protect and save NHS resources.
- Closely monitor patients who are on high risk drugs to ensure the necessary monitoring takes place in a timely fashion.
- Assist in the training of other members of the team, as necessary.
- Report on near misses and significant events.
- Attend monthly Medicines Management Team meetings.
