Serco Maritime Services deliver maritime support packages tailored to our customers’ needs all delivered within a national accreditation framework. As owners and operators of specialist vessels, from harbour workboats to oceangoing support vessels, we provide world class integrated maritime services both in the UK and abroad. Our vessels provide a range of support, which include for example: dive support, military training, submarine rescue exercises, target/test equipment deployment/recovery and passenger transfers.

We are currently recruiting for an Operations Controller to join our Operations team. Reporting to the Operations Coordinator, this role supports the Maritime Services Contract in Devonport.

**Main responsibilities of the role**:

- To be familiar with Marine Services Devonport Contract, Statement of Requirement (SOR), including the procedures for demanding of ad hoc services.
- To allocate assets manned by Suitably Qualified Experienced Personnel (SQEP) to fulfil the SOR and meet commercial commitments.
- To plan and programme the daily requirements of the Customer including the support of commercial activity.
- To liaise with all staff with regards to delivery of the operational requirement.
- Ensure vessels have access to all the necessary information / references required to undertake tasking.
- To advise and communicate via VHF Radio to afloat staff, navigational safety warnings and other instructions as received.
- Recording of statistics relating to the SOR and commercial activity in a recognised and approved system.
- To fulfil, on a rotational basis, the functions of the out of hours Duty Manager.
- To monitor and maintain annual leave, absence, and attendance records.
- To be the point of contact between afloat crews and the Operation’s Coordinator.
- To support the Operations Coordinator in the performance of his/her role.
- Communicate effectively with Customers, Management, and office staff

**What you’ll need to do the role**:

- Radio Operators Certificate - SRC/GMDSS
- Good knowledge of inland waterways - Plymouth
