A rare opportunity has arisen for a qualified Head of Finance (ideally ACA) to join a well established multi-site retail business that supply specialist tools and machinery based at their Head Office in Nottingham City Centre.

This Head of Finance role is an office based permanent position working Monday to Thursday 8.30am-6pm and Fridays 8.30-5pm offering a salary of £80-90k per annum including bonus.

As Head of Finance reporting into the Director you will be working in a number 2 role, overseeing the production of the monthly management accounting pack as well as supporting the Director in terms of driving business strategy for this company with a turnover of £70m.

You will be responsible for overseeing a team of 13 with plans to expand this further. The role is fundamental in providing accurate financial reporting, enabling the business to make decisions based on robust financial information.

**Key responsibilities will include**:
Ensuring a reliable, efficient, innovative and cost-effective finance and reporting function that enables the business to achieve its growth objectives
Monitoring and evaluating financial information systems and processes, as well as suggesting improvements
Taking responsibility for monitoring and managing the output of the finance team to ensure that it is sufficiently resourced, is operating efficiently and effectively, including management accounts, purchase ledger and sales ledger
Preparing periodic financial statements, including profit and loss accounts, budgets, cash flows, variance analysis with supporting commentary for the senior leadership team
Taking responsibility for both financial and non-financial controls across the business to manage both commercial and fraud risks.
Working with the IT department to seek efficiency gains in all business processes
Developing improved information reporting to support commercial decisions and help identify opportunities to enhance profitability within the business
Developing financial forecasts and modelling for potential business opportunities and future growth
Ultimate accountability for core finance and reporting tasks ensuring the delivery of finance services; maintains pace with the pace of the business.
Implementing corporate governance procedures, risk management and internal controls.
Preparing agreed reports for senior management, as required.
Reviewing company VAT and PAYE returns.
Taking responsibility for the management and maintenance of the company's accounting systems including payroll and payment processing software.
We are really keen to hear from applicants with the following skills and experience:
Must be a qualified accountant - ACA preferred, although CIMA/ ACCA will be considered
Multi site accounting is required to be successful in this role (65 stores across the UK + HQ)
Previous retail industry knowledge is desirable although not essential
Strong IT skills - specifically Excel - you will be an advanced user with demonstrable analytical skills
Be a committed team player with strong and proven team leadership experience and effective people management skills
Hands - on approach with the ability and desire to delve into detail when required
Proven commercial acumen
Strong communication skills, with the ability to network comfortably across the business.
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively complex financial information to all relevant internal and external stakeholders
