Newbridge, United Kingdom SCB Vehicle Dismantlers Full time

Do you have a passion for cars? Or maybe you enjoy working on them in your free time?

Here at SCB we have a fantastic opportunity for you as one of our full-time Vehicle Dismantlers, stripping accident damaged cars for parts. With around 4000 vehicles in stock and ready for breaking, you will be tasked with dismantling a large variety of vehicles every week. Once you are up to speed you will be dismantling anything from small hatchbacks to high-end sports cars.

This position will allow you to work on a variety of different vehicles, expanding your knowledge in the automotive and used parts field. You will be joining a great team of experienced dismantlers and yard staff who will be eager to help.

As one of our Vehicle Dismantlers, you will be assigned a vehicle to dismantle or 'strip'.

Either you or the forklift driver will move the vehicle on to your ramp and this is where the process begins. Occasionally you will receive a vehicle that needs "Checks". This involves checking all the electronic/moving parts of the vehicle e.g. the engine/gearbox, window regulators, headlights, door locks etc.

If the vehicle has been 'checked' then you are good to start dismantling. Along with the vehicle you will be given a "Dismantling Schedule" and the associated tags for all the parts. The schedule will contain a list of the parts that you are required to remove and any additional instructions for removal e.g. "remove door card from door" or "catalytic converter for scrap". Once you have removed a part you will take the appropriate tag for the part and cable tie it on.

The process can be simplified into the following steps:

- Move the vehicle into the workshop and onto the ramp.
- Carry out vehicle/parts "checks" if they haven't been done prior.
- Look through the Dismantling Schedule and begin removing parts, tagging as you go.

**Essential Skills**
- Previous experience working on vehicles e.g. mechanics, dismantling, fitting parts, servicing
- Good knowledge of cars and car parts.
- A 'hands-on' approach to tasks.
- Diligent and careful when removing vehicle parts and using tools.

As we are processing vehicles from almost every manufacturer and a large number of models, you will not be expected to know where every part is located

As you will be removing parts from vehicles, you will need to be competent with both hand and power tools.

**Desired Skills**

Previous forklift experience or training is desirable, but not essential. If you have no forklift experience then we can arrange in-house training. Until that point, one of the trained forklift operators will move the vehicles for you.
