Etl and Data Migration Specialist
**About The Role**:
At Mayden we are looking for a highly motivated and experienced **ETL and Data Migration Specialist** to join our Data Teams. You will help us to expand our data reporting and analytics offering for users of our market leading patient management system, iaptus. In addition, you will support new customers by ensuring their historical data comes with them when they switch from other platforms.
**Who we are**:
Mayden is an exciting, growing software company based in the beautiful city of Bath. Our life’s work is creating insightful, cloud based systems for healthcare services in the UK and abroad, and our software products have been used in almost every NHS trust in the country.
There are plenty of opportunities here to carve your own path within this role, but your responsibilities as an ETL and Data Migration Specialist can include:
- Designing, building and deploying new ETL solutions in line with stakeholder specifications
- Maintaining and continuously improving the existing ETL suites, ensuring data is handled efficiently and new features and database changes are incorporated and released seamlessly
- Collaborating closely with other Mayden teams, directors and customers to gather requirements, develop specifications, assist with data requests and deliver solutions in a timely manner
- Handling of multiple different and evolving datasets for existing and new markets
- Migrating new data from a variety of different systems into our market leading product, a patient management system called iaptus
- Self-management of projects, co-working with the team’s Product Owner to plan resources
- Scoping new projects and estimating timescales for completion of the work.
**What we are looking for**:
- Hands-on experience in developing ETL solutions (e.g. Talend, Alteryx)
- In-depth knowledge of SQL and relational databases
- Knowledge of Git or other source control software
- Experience of working closely with clients and communicating regular updates to stakeholders
- Experience of working to deadlines and handling concurrent projects
- Ability to troubleshoot and solve complex data problems
- A keenness for sharing knowledge and learning with other team members.
**Additionally, the following would be advantageous**:
- Exposure to agile methodologies and principles, preferably in a scrum framework
- Experience with coding (e.g. Python, R, Java)
- Experience with healthcare data and/or secure handling of sensitive information
- Experience of working with national datasets.
**About you**:
- You have an analytical mind with the ability to learn fast
- You enjoy solving logical problems
- You have a strong attention to detail
- You have excellent prioritisation and self-organisation skills
- You’re adaptable and able to facilitate continuous improvement
- You’re a true team player with excellent communication skills
- You are self-driven and will embrace getting to grips with complex new data and specifications
- You can take the initiative in a flat structure company.
**How we work**:
We have a flat structure, which means that teams and individuals make their own decisions, manage their own workloads and set their own goals. Our values - transparency, collaboration, contribution and forward thinking - are the cornerstones of our work.
Our teams, including the Data Team in which this role will be based, embrace agile values and principles, using the scrum framework to deliver value and drive continuous improvement.
**Benefits**:
We love that the work we do makes a difference, changing what’s possible for clinicians and patients. We have been growing steadily year on year, and offer a phenomenal working environment, exciting opportunities to learn new skills and an excellent package of benefits, including:
- life assurance
- private health insurance
- pension (enhanced after successful completion of probation)
- personal training and conference budget
- onsite gym
- EV charging points
- 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays (with the option to buy or sell annual leave after probation is completed).
**Location and hours**:
This role is full time, 37.5 hours per week Monday to Friday.
Collaboration is one of our four company values - we work best together. We believe there is significant benefit from working face to face when doing so. At the same time, some work may be carried out just as effectively alone and away from the office. We have therefore created a flexible ‘place of work’ policy that asks everyone to be where the work of the day is best completed and overall spend enough time in the office with others to maintain relationships and communication.
This means there are no fixed days when you should be in the office or can work at home. In any given week you may need to work from the office everyday or no days It all depends on the work being done and you are expected to be flexible. Many people find this approach means they work in the office 3 or more days a
