Homelessness Prevention and Relief Officer

**The role**:
An exciting opportunity has arisen to work within the Homelessness and Housing Advice Service. This position is for a Homelessness Prevention and Relief Officer.
A full time post working Monday to Friday with a requirement to take part in an on call rota to support our Emergency Homelessness Out of Hours Telephone Service for which an additional payment applies when on call.
**About you**:
- You will need interviewing skills; when customers come to us you will need to ask them lots of questions to find the circumstances that have led to their homelessness.
- You will need to gather evidence and make legal decisions.
- You will need to be able to communicate with the public confidently both verbally and in writing.
- You will carry a caseload of single and family homeless households, so you will have to be confident in organising your time to meet their needs and support them in finding alternative accommodation, often with a sense of urgency.
- You will be responsible for sourcing and managing temporary accommodation and for supporting people in finding longer term accommodation.
- You will contribute to the success of the team and to on-going improvement of the service.
Our customers need specialist advice and support during what is undoubtedly a most stressful, vulnerable time in their lives. Customers often feel frustrated and anxious about the situation they are in. It is essential you will have a calm, empathetic and professional approach to your work and are able to confidently provide reassurance and advice based on particular circumstance.
