Permanent, Full Time, 37 Hours per week.

Rotherham MBC is looking to recruit an experienced Governance Advisor to join its Governance Team within Democratic Services. The team provides comprehensive governance and administrative support across a wide range of committees, including overview and scrutiny, and also provides support for the Members who serve on those committees.

The successful post holder will have the opportunity to work at the centre of the organisation, playing a key part in co-ordinating and supporting the Council's governance, overview and scrutiny and decision-making structures and providing advice for the Council, Senior Officers and Elected Members on a wide range of constitutional and procedural matters.

This role is a full-time position, 37 hours per week, and hybrid working arrangements are in place. You will need to be an enthusiastic team player with excellent governance administrative skills who is highly organised and has experience of working within a busy environment. The role will involve undertaking a wide range of governance activities, including agenda planning, all aspects of meeting support, research, advising Councillors in public meetings and decision recording in accordance with the statutory requirements.

You should have a good grounding in committee, overview and scrutiny and governance work and be able to contribute effectively to the Council’s decision-making processes.

You will work with the Governance Manager and other Governance Advisors, along with colleagues across Democratic Services, to plan work programmes and lead on service and cross Council projects as appropriate.
