This Bolton service is a specialist supported living service and as a Community Support Worker, you will work alongside one young man (32 years old) with Autistic Spectrum Condition, learning and sensory processing difficulties.

Positive Behaviour Support focuses on teaching new skills that reduce challenging behaviour and achieves meaningful outcomes for the people we support.

Following an Active Support model, our aim is to ensure that staff create and support every opportunity enabling individuals to participate and contribute to all aspects of daily living both at home and in the community. Our approach is always to focus on supporting people to do what they can do and not what they can’t do.

We are looking for someone who has a basic understanding of Autism, holds a full driving licence valid in the UK (owning a car is not essential). We need someone with a flexible approach as the support can require you to be fully involved in fun in-house or community-based leisure activities but may also require a very patient and calm approach to support through specific daily routines. Regular communication and planning with the family is a key part of the role.

We will achieve this by working closely in partnership with the people we support, their families, carers, peers, housing providers, health and local authority professionals and by providing staff that have the training, skills, knowledge, passion and commitment to make positive and meaningful differences to people’s lives.

Nothing less than 100% commitment to the people we support will be acceptable.

Shift hours are between: 17:00 - 00:00 / Sleep-in / 8.00 - 10.00, Monday to Sunday and shifts will be scheduled on a rota basis. Following an induction period and support from the Senior Worker you will be expected to do sleep in duties (2 a week), an additional payment will be made for each one completed. Flexibility in working patterns is an expectation to ensure we can deliver the right level of support at all times.
