Nursery Worker

We are looking for a full time Nursery & Retail Assistant (plants) to work in our clients Nursery. The client is a local authority and owns and runs this site.

**Hours of Work**: 08.00 - 16.00

**Hourly Rate**: £10.39

**Start Date**: 13th March 2023

**Duration**: December 2023

**What you will be doing**:
Work as part of a team to meet contract requirements within a Nursery environment.
Undertake and complete work successfully, within predetermined targets, working effectively and efficiently.
Safely use a variety of light and heavy equipment in the mass production of plants within the Nursery section and to ensure that all vehicles, machinery, tools and equipment are kept clean, safe, secure and in a serviceable condition at all times.

Carry out general horticultural duties, i.e. watering, weeding, etcand repetitive tasks for a long period of time in the production of Nursery plants for the clients and the Retail Shop.
To assist with propagation, plant production and maintenance under glass and associated general maintenance of all glasshouses and polytunnels.
To support sustainability targets through optimum use of composting systems, recycling, minimisation of resource use.
Literacy and numeracy sufficient to read and understand instructions or specifications such as Health and Safety information and Nursery contractual requirements.
Able to deal with enquiries from members of the public, customers and volunteers in an appropriate customer-focussed way.
This is a physically demanding job which requires daily periods of sustained physical effort including walking, kneeling, lifting. The post holder must have the physical ability to undertake these tasks.
To assist with the planting and maintenance of annual bedding displays.

**Experience Required**:
1 years minimum experience in a similar role
Fluent written and spoken English
Physically fit as there is a lot of lifting involved
Ability to get to site for time stated above
