**We are seeking to employ an enthusiastic Assistant Caretaker for our large, popular secondary school. This is a full time shift-working permanent post**:

**Term Time**:
**Early Shift 1 - 37.5 hours**

8.00 - 4.30 inc 1hr 20 min break - Monday - Friday

**Early Shift 2 - 37.5 hours**

8.00 - 4.30 inc 1hr 20 min break - Monday - Thursday

10.30 - 6.30 inc 1.20 min break - Friday

**Late Shift - 36.5 hours**

2.00pm - 10.00pm inc 1hr break - Monday - Tuesday

2.00pm - 9.00pm inc 1 hr break - Wednesday - Thursday

2.00pm - 6.30pm - Friday

7.30 - 1.30 - Saturday

**School Holidays**: 36 hours per week 8.30am - 4.30pm

**Holidays**

23 days annual contractual leave + 5 ‘time off in lieu’ days for the extra hours worked during term time. All leave must be taken during the School Holidays.

**Main Responsibilities /Duties**
- Carrying out security procedures, as required by the Site Manager, Headteacher or SLT for school buildings and grounds both during and outside normal working hours. The routine and non-routine opening and closing of school premises and grounds.
- Providing safe and adequate access to the school and classrooms during inclement weather, flooding etc.
- Ensuring that the school premises and furnishings are cleaned in accordance with the cleaning specification and instructions from the Site Manager, Headteacher or a member of the Senior Leadership Team.
- Dealing with enquiries from workmen and contractors, and reporting their presence to the Site Manager or an appropriate member of the Senior Leadership team.
- Reporting to the Site Manager any repairs or maintenance work required at the school. The main duty will be routine maintenance and first line repairs which are within the scope and jurisdiction of an unskilled maintenance person. Directing workmen and contractors where there is a requirement to sign a completion note.
- Ensuring that all hard playing areas and paths are free from litter and all drains and gullies are free-flowing and clean.
- Taking delivery of stock, materials, and other goods and storing them. Despatching laundry, goods, materials, etc. from the school; ensuring that suitable cleaning materials are available. Ensuring that all caretaking equipment is in a safe and efficient working condition and reporting defects to the Site Manager.
- Preventing trespass and unauthorised parking on the school premises.
- General maintenance work to school grounds, including but not limited to cutting of grass and weed removal, care of flower beds, shrubs. Maintenance and marking of sports pitch.
- Carrying out specified procedures in the event of fire, flood breaking and entering.
- Recording meter reading (gas, water and electricity) as required.Possible involvement in lettings duties as required, in accordance with instructions from the Site Manager or Headteacher (Deputy Head Resources).
- Carrying our any other duties which may reasonably be allocated, from time to time, by the Headteacher (Deputy Head Resources) or Site Manager.
- Deputising for the Site Manager, under the supervision of the Assistant Headteacher.
- Ensure Health and Safety instructions are adhered to.
