**About the Role**:
Stanton Surgery in Bury St Edmunds has a fantastic opportunity for a healthcare assistant to join the practice, to support the nursing team, on a part-time basis, for up to 18 hours per week.
- BP monitoring
- ECGs
- 24 hour BP averaging
- Recording heights and weights and other measurements of patients as required
- Urinalysis (including preparing relevant laboratory forms)
- Phlebotomy (including preparing relevant laboratory forms)
- Processing and management of laboratory samples requested by GPs/Nurses
- Providing lifestyle advice to patients and helping to raise awareness of health and wellbeing and how it can be promoted
- Chaperoning duties
- Influenza & pneumococcal vaccinations & vitamin B12 injections
- Weight management advice (keeping up-to-date with update courses and guidelines)
- Smoking cessation advice (keeping up-to-date with update courses and guidelines)
- Assisting in seasonal and special projects as requested (eg flu campaign)
- General treatment room dressings, taking advice as appropriate from a registered healthcare professional.
- Preparing and maintaining environments and equipment before, during and after patient care interventions, including assisting GPs during minor procedures eg family planning interventions, in accordance with the practice Infection Control Policy.
- Ensuring the relevant staff member is notified when stock needs ordering and or order stock
- Undertaking housekeeping duties including general tidiness and cleanliness of treatment room.
- Assisting with collection and collation of data on needs related to health and wellbeing
- Using data entry templates to ensure consistent recording of patient data.
- Maintaining accurate records ensuring relevant staff are notified of any tasks/duties which have been identified.
- Ensuring stock is rotated regularly to ensure the practice doesn’t have out of date products.
- Assisting in existing and new enhanced services as required (eg unplanned admissions enhanced service)

If you are a qualified and experienced healthcare assistant looking for a fresh and exciting challenge, we would love to hear from you. you will have the following:

- Experience working within a surgery, or the NHS as a health care assistant is vital. The HCA will have appropriate training and NVQ level 3 as a minimum, and appropriate training courses relating to areas of the health care assistants job.
- You must be able to demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be able to work independently, whilst integrating and communicating with the wider team.
- You must also be able to demonstrate excellent clinical skills and prioritisation of patient care.
- Applicants need to be highly organised, self-motivated and flexible in their approach to prioritising workload.

**About Us**:
We are a rural dispensing and training practice located in the village of Stanton, set in the beautiful Suffolk countryside close to Bury St Edmunds. We serve a stable population of approx. 5300 patients.

We are a 2 partner GMS practice offering a supportive happy environment, and were recently approved as a GP training practice. We already have our first two GP trainees working alongside us, and in the future we aim to host nursing students also. We offer traditional general practice offering currently diabetes care, LARC and minor surgery as additional personal interests.

We have a team of 3 nurses, and work closely with our PCN colleagues who visit the surgery weekly, such as a social prescriber, mental health link worker, mental health worker and physio. We are part of Blackbourne PCN which consists of 4 rural surgeries. Our reception and admin teams provide excellent support to our clinical teams.

We work in modern purpose built premises, which have recently been extended and provide a bright and airy setting in which to work. We are forward thinking, and always looking for new ways to do things to ensure we provide the best possible care for our patients. We recently changed our dispensary software, and are the second dispensing practice in the country to utilise this software, which is normally used in pharmacies.
