Graduate Finance

**We have a number of opportunities to join our leading-edge graduate programme for Finance.**

These roles are working across a number of our projects and based within our Maidenhead & Foster Lane offices for start in September 2023.

**About the Project**:
As our Finance Graduate, you will develop your technical, leadership and management skills, initially working within Divisional Finance a base location of Maidenhead, with the opportunity of some home working.

The roles will be based between our Maidenhead Office (at least 2 days a week) and Foster Lane (London) office.
Once established in the role, there will be the option to work a day a week from home.

**Purpose of the Role**:
As a Finance Graduate, you will develop your technical, leadership and management skills through working in a few different areas.

**Key Tasks & Responsibilities**:
Project accounting at a project site
- Management accounting, business partnering and reporting with the Divisional Finance Function
- Financial Control, compliance, and external audit exposure
- Corporate reporting, accounting standards, taxation and financial accounting through Group Finance Function
- Budgeting and business planning with the FP&A function
- Fiscal responsibility with the Treasury function
- Making Finance Digital with the Automated Solutions Team

In addition to working on these core skills, you will join our Graduate Development Programme, which will guide and support you through the first 3 years of your challenging new career.
Throughout the Graduate programme you will gain experience through working in a number of different areas:

- Management accounting, business partnering and reporting with the Divisional Finance Function

**Costain's Graduate Development Programme**:
The programme will focus on helping you to grow your personal and leadership skills, alongside business and of course, the technical skills you will learn day-to-day on the job.

The programme is delivered in a variety of formats throughout the 2-3 years and will allow you to establish a network of contacts that will help and support you through your first 2 years and beyond. We expect some of our graduates to rotate after a period of 8-12 months, to another project/sector of the business to fully understand the depth and breadth of the services offered by the company.
Our line managers are fully supportive of the Graduate Development Programme and will be involved in helping you along the way.

In addition to the programme, we offer mentoring and support in every area of work, as well as a structured training programme to enable graduates to work towards achieving Chartership.

Graduates may have the opportunity to work on a number of exciting and progressive projects around the UK during the 2-year period, in sectors including nuclear, highways, rail, water, airports and tunnels.

Your experience will support your progress in professional exams, and you should aim to be a qualified accountant by the end of the programme.

**About You**:

- You will have or expected to achieve a good result in a relevant discipline
- Have passion for Costain's Carbon Net Zero targets
- IT proficient
- Able to work accurately and appreciate its importance to the team
- A willingness to learn with appropriate instruction
- Excel at building and maintaining positive relationships
- The ability to thrive in pressured situations
- The ability to empathise and communicate with all people, regardless of their background or circumstances
- Excellent organisation, communication, and time management skills
- Mobility to work on various projects over the 2-year programme throughout the UK

As some of our project sites are based in remote locations, it is worth noting that you will be required to have the ability to travel to site
